Help! LLC YT Channel Filing, Which State?

Hey dudes,

Looking for anyone who has experience in filing their channel's as LLCs

I'm looking to file mine as an LLC, however I'm not entirely sure which state I should file in. (Wyoming is looking nice for various reasons)

Little bit of background info:

  1. It would be a single person LLC consisting of just me (which I'm not sure get's liability protection in most states?)
  2. I make videos in Wisconsin
  3. I'm looking to have separate bank accounts for the business so things are easier to track come tax season.



Oh and some random questions if anyone knows them :).

  1. Is filing an LLC online something I should just stay away from, and instead contact a business lawyer? Or do you have any suggestions of good sites for the process?
  2. Can the business address be a PO Box? Or does it also need a physical address? Reason I ask is that I don't want to have my home address be searchable due to the business.
  3. If I file outside of my home state, would I need to file for a foreign corporation in Wisconsin for a youtube channel?

Anyhoo, if anyone could help, that would be AMAZING! There is not a lot out there on the internet to research regarding this type of stuff regarding youtube channels.

A limited liability company. People in the US can establish an LLC as their business. Let's say OP does this, and the money he makes from his YT channel is paid to the business. If something were to happen for various legal reasons, one would have to go after the company in court and not the individual person. Atleast that's my understanding of it. Oh I see, isn't it extremely expensive to set one up though? I saw someone trying to make one once and it was like $100,000...

I think it depends on the type? I think you may be thinking about a corporation, which is generally very large and has lots of employees. An LLC is usually a sole proprietorship I just did a quick google search and depending on state it could be anywhere from $50 to $300.
 
Hey! Just wondering if you ever figured anything out with you LLC. I was looking at this thread and was hoping for some answers myself. Trying to start an LLC for my YouTube channel, but don't want my personal info to be blasted all over SOS websites. Thanks in advance!!
