Headset Mic Help (Razer? Tritton? Astro?)

I'm in the market to buy a new headset mic. I need advice and recommendations though. Every headset I have ever had only lasts two years until the crystal clear sound is lost or one of the speakers stops working. I need a headset-mic that won't give me those problems for years. However I don't know a whole lot about headset mics these days. I know of the bigger name brand companies but to me: a headset is a headset.

What is it about Razer, Astros and Tritton Headsets that make them so good? Do they last? Have no issues with poor soldering? Have durable cords? These are things that I know cause problems with headsets and so lately I've been thinking about a wireless headset mic. Are they worth it? Is there any sound loss or quality loss in them in within a year? Are the Mics good for recording voice? What I am also looking for in a new headset is that it is Universal and USB compatible. Chat and Game Channels would also be preferable.

I heard the Astro A40s were the bee's knees, but if you're looking to do your voiceovers etc maybe look at a seperate USB mic, such as those from Blue. These generally wipe the floor with headset mics.

I saw those Astros but the Trittons are really catching my eye right now. I don't know what to consider at this point so I will have to do more research. As for a separate Mic I was thinking about putting that off. I had a pair of PX22's from Turtle Beach and the Mic quality was amazing so I may continue using just a headset Mic. However I was thinking of getting the Yeti Mic at Best Buy since it's affordable and seems to have a great reputation.

Well after doing some more research I'm going to go get the Astro A50's today. The A40's are brilliant but I hate wires >.<
