The HDMI splitter would mean you don't need an IN and OUT component cable and 2 component-to-HDMI cables, so it would probably end up cheaper... You also wouldnt have to run the gameplay through the HDPVR as you would have a direct HDMI input into the TV

My suggestion is sell your HDPVR and go get an Elgato Game Capture HD. I personally think it is the best capture card on the market because of the flashback recording which allows you to go back in the timeline and record something so you can play without recording 24/7

It is the best recording software I know. But I don't feel like investing more money on youtube right now...
