Having Trouble Getting my First Vlog recorded - Tips and Pointers?

I've Got It
I was just doing some rough run throughs of my first vlog, and was going to just start with introducing myself - but when I did that, I really didn't like it lol. I was thinking, instead of doing that, should I just start with a short intro, and then go into the topic I'm going to talk about on the vlog? Or should I try and pin point a better introduction of myself. I feel like it's kind of weird doing that, because my channel's been up for a while but this will be my first vlog.

So basically, how do I get going with my first vlog? I'm really struggling with it, it's so much different than podcasting for me!

Oh god, I remember the first time I tried to vlog. It was so awkward and I was having the same troubles you are!

Regardless of the tone of your vlog, I would try writing a basic outline as if it were a comedy bit. Start with a short introduction that gives good but quick context to what you are about to vlog about, then get into the thick of it in a logical order (not rambling, which can differ from ranting). Close the vlog with your strongest point, then maybe do a call to action after. Just remember that you have to hook in people fast.

I'm no expert, but I'd watch some Jenna Marbles or David So! They are really good at vlogging. Or just watch some Aziz Ansari stand up. Honestly, just watch a lot of comedians and study what they do.

And you can always introduce yourself at the end with the call to action, like what a lot of performers do before they leave the stage.

I'd just start with a short intro, especially if your channel has been around for awhile.

However, the first time we do anything, it's not going to look right to our own eyes and ears, but I think getting past that is one of the biggest hurdles in video or any other art form. Doing something that doesn't meet our expectations only gives us room to improve, and being able to say, "Good enough for now, I'll do better next time" is a helpful thing to me.

@xingcat Definitely, couldn't agree more! I think the first time I tried, I just didn't really have a good grasp on what I wanted to vlog about or say lol but I'm going to try again tonight and hopefully not be as derpy XD

Thanks for the tips, you two!
