Having Fraps Issues

Ok I'm pretty sure the issue is actually something to do with my computer (it's been having a lot of problems lately, but Fraps is being effected the most) and half the time won't record anymore. In fact the little FPS overlay doesn't even appear anymore, and when I hit F9 nothing happens (usually the fraps logo in the tool bar goes from yellow to red).

Has anyone had experience with problems like this, and do you know of any workarounds?

Check your fraps settings and make sure you have Monitor Aero Desktop (DWM) checked in the General section :). In the FPS section make sure that you have the Overlay selected in a corner and that "Hide overlay" is not checked :D

Yep, all that is set correctly. Any other ideas? Keep in mind I'm not a new user either - all my gaming videos have been recorded on fraps and I've not run into this issue until now.

hmm one thing I hadn't considered is maybe upgrading ... haven't done that in awhile.

Hm...if that doesn't fix it try restarting your computer or running Fraps in administrator mode. Let me know if that helps it. I've had this problem a few times and usually just rebooting my PC fixes the problem.

Fraps was giving a lot of problems as well.. I updated and reinstalled and everything, but nothing seemed to work. I just switched to Dxtory. Seems to work a lot better and doesn't really give large files like Fraps.

Did you accidently switch any settings on fraps?

Nope, as I said earlier all the correct settings are in place. I'll try re-installing.[DOUBLEPOST=1375841041,1375841013][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'd prefer not to switch - I already paid for fraps, and don't feel like paying for another program if I can help it.

All I can think of is installing it again. Or is there any updated version's of fraps? maybe it needs to be updated. Your drivers can also need to be updated. that could also be a problem.
Also what game are you recording ? (if its a game) It could be something wrong with the game. You said everytime you press the key it doesn't record correct? Trying changing the hotkey to something diffrent and test it out. If it keeps happening try to contact fraps for support.

It's all I can do to help. Hope it solves something.

It doesn't need to be updated (it's the latest version) but I will try reinstalling it. As far as drivers go, that shouldn't be an issue. I do mostly record games, but in this case it's a web-based software I'm doing a tutorial on (Adobe Analytics - very similar to Google Analytics in terms of web interface). Honestly, as I've said I don't think the problem is with fraps at all. I think my desktop is dying (and I've upgraded it twice now in the past 2 years since I got it). I wonder if I need a new GPU?
