Posting Mad!
As the title states - this question came across my mind after reading a few threads today. I'm wondering what a general consensus is on the topic. Unfortunately I believe this community will be somewhat biased because we are content creators, but it should still serve for an interesting discussion.

I'm under the presumption that once a person has already invested the time and effort into finding and navigating to a video, they are already interested enough to stay through an advertisement. At least, that's how I personally am. How about you?

Yep i will always click off the video unless its a content creator who ive watched for a while or they have a big channel and have a proven track record of making good content. I come across so many smaller youtubers who run pre roll ads and expect me to think that their content is worth waiting for an advert to finish just so i can watch it. 99 times out of 100 i wont think it is worth the wait so now i just click off if it ever happens. I wouldnt run adverts on my videos because i know making a few quid a month is not worth wasting my viewers time.

If a channel is big enough to be making a decent amount of money by running pre roll ads, then i would be ok with it. If your channel isnt that big then i wont give it the time of day.

If the ad is skippable I watch, if it is forced and more than 30 seconds I skip, although most non-skippable ads are less than 20 so it's rare to get one over 30. :P

No, because I have pre roll ads on my videos.

If it's ok for myself to have them, it should be ok for others to have them.

I always find it funny when people get mad at others for having ads on their videos, when they have ads enabled themselves...

There are some ads for like 1:00! That's longer than some of the videos I want to watch, but for the most part, I'll stick it out.

I'm ok with ads, probably because I have them on my channel too. The ones that aren't skippable do really annoy me but I do normally stick on the video, they are really rare so i don't really mind.

Interesting responses so far.

I'm somewhat in the same boat. Personally I don't think my content is at that level yet, and the amount that I would earn based on my viewership is paltry, so there's no good reason to enable advertisement at this point. However, I don't immediately close out if it's my first time watching, and I have the option to skip a long ad. Otherwise I feel that 5 seconds may cost me potentially discovering something entertaining.

Yeah, I stumbled upon a video with a 1min ad after posting this. I wasn't aware it existed. I would be quite frustrated to have to sit through a minute of advertisement for a video that isn't even that long. I guess relative length of ad compared to video is something that should be kept in mind.
