Have any of you guys paid to get your profile picture or banner done?

Honestly Fiverr is the place to go if you want something in graphics design done in any price range really. Although getting it done by a friend is really awesome since they will have a more personal connection with the project and you can get more revisions on it.
I haven't yet paid anyone for my YouTube channel, but I think I will at some point.
