Well I think it is sad enough to dislike. It is just a troll tool. If I do not like a video I will simply just move on, why waste another 2 seconds clicking the dislike button
However I do understand where you are coming from. Comments like 'You need to improve your quality dude' might pass the hater test, as it is feedback

I wouldn't say "some". Most people asking for criticism are in reality looking for praise (and usually aren't even aware of this) and "haters gonna hate" is just a very welcome excuse to brush everything off that isn't pure praise, so you don't have to deal with it. People have been that way looong before YouTube, but interestingly this haters-excuse has spread beyond the internet, folks are now using it to not deal with critic in real life as well. (Talking about critic on creative works here.)

But I think 'this is a terrible video' equally fits as criticism. Sure it isn't constructive, or necessarily helpful, but it isn't nasty or trolling. But people brush it off as trolling

Some haters are that dumb that they even comment on your video. Some even say that your video is crap and is not good. On one of my videos I got quite a lot of dislikes, I was shocked to see a lot of dislikes on my video. As the video I had uploaded was not bad and not offending!

I watched your guys videos yesterday and I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. Not because of what I was expecting from you, but from prank videos in general. There is a difference between a prank and just being an ******* making fun of people that many YouTube "pranksters" don't get, which, I guess, has reshaped my expectation when approaching prank videos. Yours where pranks. Still not a genre I'm particularly interested in, but it's nice to see that growing up in an area where picking pockets is part of the skill set one does acquire by the age of 6 can be put to good use...
