Other HashtagTV

Hi.

OK, so I recently had an idea for a new type of channel on YouTube. Instead of been comedy based or gaming based... this channel would be a more informative channel while aiming at the general younger audience that YouTube offers. Let's face it... most teens want to know what is happening in the world, its just that they are turning off from broadcast television and moving over to internet sites instead. So my idea is to take advantage if this situation and launch an informative YouTube channel. To add to this I've seen a few you tubers talk about wanting to do more informative/newsy videos but don't want to alienate there audience.

So let's say the channel has a selection of shows, news shows, review shows, opinion based shows etc... each show takes a topic, say Sundays at 7PM a review of the week is uploaded. And Friday at 8PM a music based show is uploaded, or Wednesday at 9PM a game show is uploaded... and say at 6pm Monday through Friday a 90 second summary of the days news is uploaded... the list of possibilities goes on.

A quick name idea that I came up with was HashtagTV.

So... what do you think? Could this work? And would anyone be interested in doing it?

I think people subscribe on YouTube for a specific type of video, and they don't want that broad of videos. It would be like if NBC news had a gameshow on right before some music, then went to the news. The audience for all of that is very small.

Yes that is true, but technically all videos uploaded would be newsy/opinionated... Yet they would target different issues very much like the likes of CNN, FOX News, MSNBC but targeting a younger demographic

"Newsy/opinionated"? That is very contradictory. News should be unbiased or it isn't really news...

You have to think about it, nobody is going to tune into a 10 minute long straight news show on YouTube where as;
1) They would/might to a 2 minute summary
2) They might to a 10/20 minute opinionated show
3) They might to a 10/20 minute themed news show (Gaming News, Tech News, Social Media related News)

If you feel that strong about this idea, just go looking for people that also believe in it rather than asking other for their opinion. Rarely do people try something "different". Most people just follow what already has worked in the past, copy it, and hope for the same results. But if you really believe this idea could work, go for it! You may even surprise yourself with the results. And even if you fail, atleast you know it wasn't because you didn't try it. Plus you could learn from it and that's always a good thing.
