Has anyone ever made fliers to promote themselves?

My graphics designer was talking to me about making business cards or fliers and passing them out to my classmates. Has anyone ever tried this and if so what were the results because I debating on whether I should do it or not once school starts back up.

I personally for my channel it's not a good idea. I have seen people do those things and never really heard anything about it. It depends really on your channel I think.
