Grrr, just get back to me on Monetisation already Youtube

I Love YTtalk
They thought that one of my videos was not eligible for monetisation and asked for further comment. So I ticked the Written permission box five days ago and I am still waiting for them to get back to me. In the meantime, my latest video is under review for monetisation, as it appears I have to wait until the previous review is done before I can monetise anything else. This is frustrating.

This happens all the time, you'll have to wait until they streamline the process with the new MCN changes happening. Be aware that millions of videos apply for this so it's not surprising. Also be aware you will earn literally maybe a cent on your current views so it is completely pointless to be monetising and putting off viewers when you should actually be building your views and subscribers.

I suppose that is a fair point that I should be considering.

I gave up on written permission. When I did that on 2 videos, they just denied me monetization without ever contacting me about the written permission. I was so ANGRY about that. Since then I use the "online link to license" or whatever it's called and I copy/paste my written permission there. Then my videos sit in "monitoring for possible review" which isn't much better.

Yeah its a massive bummer. Alas. With that in mind I hav edemonetised some of my lower viewed videos to encourage people to view them but. I should have expected this cause they do say that people with more views are prioritised, so us lower viewed people just do not stand any form of chance.

And monetized videos show up higher in search results than de-monetized ones ... which is why I try to monetize all my videos.

Google/YouTube wants to earn money. They "award" monetized videos with better search ranking.

For the few videos I have chosen not to monetize, they get very few YouTube search and referral views, while the ones that are monetized get the majority of their views from YouTube search.

None of my videos are monetized and many of them are ranked on page 1 of the search results for their target search terms. Would they be doing even better if they were monetized ? Who knows, but if it is true that there's something in the algorithm that gives a little boost to monetized videos (personally I am not convinced), I think that would be offset by the reduced audience retention due to people not liking the ads, so that would balance things out.

Tip to gamers using licences:

Copy and paste the "online" licence into a .PDF document, include the date, your name, your channel, video URL and their company name as well then attach it to your 'additional information' form and you should get a 99% success rate of being approved. Use this for guidance too: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2490090
