Growth is so hard.

I have seen this as a common theme lately. I have been promoting my channel like crazy on twitter, reddit, etc. It's getting me views, but not subscribers. I have been able to get over 80 followers on twitter in less than a week, but it's still not producing results. While, people that promote their channel actually on youtube seem to be getting much better results than I.
You're promoting yourself but are you promoting to the right audience? If you are making retro/classic game videos you shouldn't be advertising on IGN (I know you didn't say IGN but just for example.) If you are promoting on Reddit try a subreddit dedicated to retro games. Seek audiences like the people who watch JamesNintendoNerd or ClassicGameRoom.

Yes, all of my followers on twitter are retro game nerds. I also do the same on reddit, I have close to 1000 views already, but just 19 subscribers.

I watched your video and think is cool and you just gained one more sub!
I think growth is faster when one has more subs and at the beginning is slow...
