Group Channel or Solo Channel?

Since starting YouTube, I have created a group channel where me and my friends were to create awesome gaming videos. But over the past few months it seems that most of them have not been as committed to doing this as much as I have. Sure they tell me that they don't want to leave this channel, but they are always too busy to make videos or even make a video with me. I'm in a pickle here, because recently I have been thinking about going solo and creating a channel where it is just me and no group. Because my channel lately has just been nothing but me! I wanted it to be where the videos consisted of a variation of all of us, but now it's just me. So what do you guys/girls think I should do next? Should I give up on this whole idea of doing a group channel and instead move to solo? Plus the only friend I have who has been committed to doing this is my friend, Robert. I was thinking about making it a duo channel where it would just be me and him, but I wouldn't have the heart to tell the others on what we were doing by ourselves. What should I do?

As long as your having fun that is all what matters, if your incentives for YouTube is money or fame, your going at it wrong! Yes it needs to be good quality videos but in general, if you are having fun with it, keep it going!

Personally I prefer having a solo channel. That makes you all in control. Since you are the only one creating videos on that group channel, you might aswell make a solo channel. Just remember to enjoy making videos anyway. If the others don't make videos you can just tell them you might aswell move on with yourself and/or your one commited friend.

You should go solo for now, at least until your buddies start taking you or your channel seriously. Clearly you like it more then they do so try going solo and see if its something you'd like.

I'm da boss when it comes to advise :D

I really don't think that has anything to do with it. The fact that they have a group that he only uploads to, can destroy the fun of it. He is expecting collaboration and to play with the guys, but it's just him. He thinks that he might have more fun with his own channel because then reality will coincide with his expectation. Nowhere in his post does he even mention money or fame.

As you can read above I think you might enjoy having a solo channel if the other don't contribute to the group channel. You could start a new channel and keep uploading videos to the group as well.

This might come off as doing it in spite, but that's not what I mean. You could just upload to the group channel in the same frequency that the others do. So you have a series or something that is for the group channel that you upload in the same manor as your friends and you upload more frequently (and other series) to our solo channel. This way you might get the best of both worlds.

If you are going to start a solo channel, hit me up for some new channel art. You'll get a discount for being awesome!

I actually like that idea, but I haven't really asked them lately if they want to continue on the channel, and I wouldn't be surprised if most of them say no. I might just go ahead and abandon the group channel and go directly to solo. Good idea nonetheless.

Sound alike you would really enjoy a solo channel, you should do it and see for yourself :)
Or maybe the problem is the people maybe a different set of people who would be more invested would be good for you?

Just moving this to the Script, Script Writing, Video Ideas and Planning section of the forum for you. I personally think it's better to go solo. That way, you don't have anyone to rely on but yourself :)

You could make a new solo channel that features your friends if they want to be in it sometimes or keep the group channel (which sounds like it will become inactive) along with a solo channel.
