ahhhh true, but I never really try and find out if someone is partnered, I am more interested about their content. I am sure new partner features will be in place for the future!

Well no, I don't look either. But it's nice to have, and be recognized for being a partner. That's what a lot of people look forward to when they apply to be a partner, I know I did.
I feel bad for all of those who are now getting partnered and not going to have the ability of the banner for very long.

I don't really mind the new layout, although I do have some gripes with it.
Pros:
1) There's no easy way to tell if someone is partnered or not. That means the smaller channels with good content will be on a more level playing field against the big YouTubers.
2)More of your videos are shown on the main channel page so that people will be able to quickly see what kind of content you produce.
3) Your popular videos are shown on the main channel page. Sometimes it just takes 1 really good video to get someone to subscribe to you, and this could give them that 1 video.
Cons:
1) Having a different banner size based on the viewing platform makes it more difficult to create channel art that looks good everywhere.
2) The channel looks very plain and loses some of the creativity of the current channel design.
3) The channel page looks cluttered and hard to easily navigate. This might change over time as we get used to it.

I've been through 4 major changes on Youtube and EVERY SINGLE TIME people claim that it's horrible, then people get used to it and life moves on.
