Gore on YouTube?

just Moto

I Love YTtalk
Why are there gore clips on YouTube? Alot of them are in non english speaking countries/languages, and show people involved in road accidents missing limbs and bleeding to death on the street. Others include executions, animal execution etc.. I don't go looking for them, I usually just get them in suggested videos when looking at a clip in a foreign language and then they all just seem to go down this gore path :/

Some of these videos have millions of views and have been up for years. I would of though this is something YouTube wouldn't want to be associated with?!

Since gore itself and this type of content is not illegal, it is allowed to a certain extent. Don't you think it would be a bit odd for YouTube to take down, for example, a YouTuber who happens to be a war photographer documenting their experience? Here's an article YouTube wrote addressing this.

I read the article. I'm not talking about war. I'm talking about some guy with his arm and leg missing saying his last words to the camera. A motorcyclist dieing on camera. Or the dog getting his head chopped off and bled out for sacrifice. You don't see this in English speaking language videos on youtube but type in "car crash brazil" and see what starts coming up after a few clicks and it's high viewed content. Strange world out there :/

I put in the example because you generally would see the same (bloody) content. Maybe it was a bad analogy because it's 5am and I haven't slept yet. Shoot me. Or don't actually, (I mean I guess you could, and then proceed to record it and then I guess this would be more related to this thread but I digress)

Not sure why it's on YouTube where there are other websites and Reddit forums that are dedicated to this type of thing (please don't ask me how I know). But then again it's not "illegal" and apparently not against YouTube's ToS under certain circumstances so \_(ツ)_/¯

These video's get taken down most of the time or get an Age-Restriction. Than they're available on live leak and those types of websites. I've seen some war videos of Syria and I think they get to stay up because they're in a certain sense important and informative.

And the award for best reply in a thread goes to Brandon! Way to bring the comment full circle :thumbsup2:

Depending on the gore, there are things in some countries that aren't illegal that are illegal in the US. Moto mentioned animal executions. That's not going to go over very well in the US... someone just murdering Lassie for the fun of it? The news would have a field day, YouTube would take a hit and someone would end up in jail. You can search for it and not really find anything, but type in motorcycle crashes and things get ugly quick. People laying dead in the streets? It happens... in the US... and gets put on YouTube.... and the news picks it up... and YouTube removes the video post haste.

What's left are the videos that fall into Youtube's Tos guidelines or otherwise haven't been flagged for removal. But I wouldn't be surprised it the reason you can't find more gore (as you said, most of the videos are older) is due to it being removed because YouTube doesn't want the negative image.
