Google+ YouTuber communities... waste of time?

I've joined a number of them and they all seem to just be a place to link dump. I've interacted with the posts and commented and tried to get people to engage but it just doesn't seem to work...

Maybe I'm in the wrong communities?

What are your experiences?
 
I abandoned Google+ because of that. I wanted to engage with other YouTubers by joining a community called 'YouTubers!'. It then turned out to be a link dumping community most of time and I didn't get the change to engage with other YouTubers. So ever since, I stopped using Google+ at the time. I may use it again, but from my experiences from that community, it was a waste of time for me. But, hopefully, there are some communities, but a lot to me just seems like a waste really...
 
right! I felt like I was the one who was only watching videos and commenting and stuff... nobody cared though... here it's nice, channel link right there, I can check you out, maybe subscribe if I like it, it's nice! you guys care, haha

It was the same scenario for me, others will have other experiences I'm sure, but with mine, I had no luck of engagement! I found this not so long ago and I'm glad I did, in fact, I wished I had signed up earlier!

Just checked your channel right now, loved the introduction! I loved it haha :D
 
About a week ago, I posted my videos on three YouTube google+ communities. I mean I think I got like 15 total views and 1-2 subscribers, plus a few likes and 2 comments. That is good for me because I'm a small channel. If you are just starting off and you have next to nothing it is good, but don't expect a lot. Ytalk is good because it is an actual community and you don't just get people promoting their videos all the time. That being said, I have gained some views and subs from yttalk and I have watched other peoples videos on yttalk when they weren't even promoting their channels. I think sometimes you get views when you aren't even trying. Trying to get views on You Tube by linking your videos everywhere is overrated. In fact, even though I have gained about 15 views from google+ communities, I have gained over 100 views from yttalk without even trying. Trying to get views is overrated and so are google+ communities. I doubt I will go back to google+.

I agree on all factors there, I think it's better to engage with YouTubers than just doing the mainstream link dumping, and by engaging, it is less likely going to upset or irritate any viewers. I think it's spot on.

A majority of my views here are dog pictures, but I do get video traffic. Nothing way too special though. I think my post to the GoPro community is how I got the actual GoPro channel to comment on one of my videos and they called it crazy! I thought it was just somebody with a GoPro logo, but it was the actual channel with almost 3 million subs and crazy a** videos. Like everything else, experiment.

You won't get much form Google+ communities. However I'm wondering if Pluses are important for SEO or not but probably there is no one who knows it for sure.
 
I agree, I have found g+ to be a dumping ground as well... unless there is a community that I'm not aware of that actually interacts with each other.

I misread the subject. I go to dog communities and GoPro communities, people actually comment and +1 in there.
