2nd, the size of youtube has nothing to do with the fact that they will fix it. Being so large makes it more imperative to do so! If not, people will leave and youtube will decline.

A couple thousand out of millions. Really not too big of an issue if you think about it.

I didn't say they wouldn't, I was just saying how there was no real need to do that.
 
If the spam pisses off the big Youtubers, they MIGHT do something about the comments. Pewdie has already disabled comments on his video. Here's the thing about 'Bob'.....Google doesn't give a s**t. Click on the video to make a comment..that's a view, that's money, and anyone who wants to continue spamming has to make a Google + account if they don't have one. So really, once again, Google wins.
The only way to make any sort of change, is if people were to start leaving Youtube. And ofc, that's not going to happen in the numbers needed to make any kind of change.
I predict though, that it will effect Youtube in the end, and people really will start leaving. You can only p**s off people for so long, before they finally decide to find something better.

I'm still trying to figure out why people are so angry against G+ integration on YouTube when it's not G+'s fault that the comment system is so broken.

G+ has some great tools - tools that I've already seen benefit from as more and more people follow me on G+ and others share my work to their followers by simply commenting on it - but now that YouTube has unlocked both unlimited characters in comments AND live links in comments, the same dicks that made the comment system so terrible in the first place are just making things worse by uploading entire movie scripts and linking directly to malware.

G+ isn't the problem - YouTube's innocent view of it's users and failure to dickproof it's system is the problem.
