Well with android 4.4, ART cache, and improvements it'll slim down in hardware. But remember it still is in Beta. So it won't be as pricy, and it'll be more refined. Google's even working on different designs.
And it's not useless. Use it to capture life through your eyes. Cooks can use it to check recipes (or theirs from Google drive or something.) instead of going to a book or tablet. Doctors can use it to check information / map of body for surgery / use it to show a first person view on surgey to the students. The possiblities are endless.
Vlogging is deffiantly interesting, and awesome. Though how would you do the self shots? There could be a vloggings extension that hangs off, or just do what they were doing.

Holograms seem a bit off still. 10-16 years. By then their wouldnt even be phones, lol.
