Good graphics card to run sony vegas smoothly (and play games smoothly)

You won't get anything worthwhile with that, you're looking at least $200 for something semi-future proof. At least, that's my opinion - especially with that monitor. Sony Vegas shouldn't be too much of an issue but gaming is a different story.

Save up a little more cash and get something that'll last you :) It means waiting longer but it'll be worth it!

I think you are confused here, GPU acceleration allows you to view what is happening on the screen real time, that's the only part the GPU really matters, so if you are just looking to edit on vegas than you are looking for the realitime viewing capability, so I don't think GT640 has enough Vram, or processing power to run Vegas smoothly
 
Ok I think I got the full picture now, I'll try and save up for something like the GTX660[DOUBLEPOST=1368312489,1368312204][/DOUBLEPOST]There's just one problem, the computer I'm getting says that it's Computer & Graphics RAM Type is DDR3 SDRAM while the GTX660 is GDDR5.....do I have to be concerned about this? :/

DDR3 is the type of RAM the computer has, the GDDR5 is the type of memory the graphics card has, unrelated things, and don't worry about them because they are for two different things, considering that you have to ask that if you would like you can post the full computer specs for the members here to look at so you don't by something outdated or crappy

Seems to be missing the technical details, like GPU type, power supply, and battery, you didn't say you were looking at a laptop?
