What kind of goals should someone who just started on YouTube should strive for in terms of view count or subscribers? I know that these that aren't all there is to become a YouTuber however it is still curious to know nonetheless

I think it depends on what stage you're in. If you just started, maybe aim for 5 subscribers, then after that set a new goal. I mostly say this because I don't even have 100 subscribers after almost a year lol

I set a goal at the beginning of the year to post a musical video every week. It has been such a hard goal, but it really takes my mind off of views and subscriber numbers...Monitoring those things can drive you crazy! I'm just focusing on practicing, learning about digital composing, and learning how to make videos for now..the rest can come, or not come, whenever the time comes! That didn't answer your question, but I'm a small channel! ^-^

Your only goal in the beginning should not focus on numbers or statistics in any way. If you do focus on the numbers it will only discourage you from continuing on with Youtube. I've been doing this a year and am never fully happy with the numbers I make. The only thing you should worry about is improving your content, figuring out what does and does not work for your channel, and go from there. Quality is the only thing that matters as far as a goal in the beginning and not the quantity. So for those starting out I would avoid setting some astronomical goal that sadly you may not be able to reach.

Agreed. If you spend too much time looking at numbers and analytics while you're small you'll never have time for fun. And your focus probably won't be on yourself but rather being someone else that attracts numbers -- which I guess is fine if you're going the alter ego route.

I am really focussed on numbers but still think I have a lot of fun. And I am always very surprised and happy when I gain a new subscriber, so I am never disappointed :)
A good goal is 100 subscribers in the first year. This is also a reasonable goal/average YouTube talks about in their creator courses.

it is hard work but I am planning to reach the 500 Subs this month. Only 11 more to go :-) Yeeeha

Depends on what stage beginner you are. At very first (where I am) get a workflow established for creating videos. When/where to shoot, audio and any visual effects. Get to where you produce consistently. Once your in a "flow" and have your "process", then look at the numbers and tweak what you do.

...at least that's what I'm planning to do. :sneaky2:
