How do you guys feel about giveaways? I started one to give away the new iphone 7 that is coming out for christmas, but i always thought and still think giveaways attract the wrong crowd, so to counteract that i gave them questions that only someone who watches my videos all the time would be able to answer. There is no way in hell a non-fan is gonna win and even a dedicated fan would have trouble answering some if they missed a vid or 2. I hate people who sub just to try and win and then leave so its gon be one hell of a struggle to "Fake" being a fan in order to win.
 
Giveaways can definitely give you a quick boost to your following, but like you said, a bulk of those people aren't there for the long run. That's kind of the risk you have to take with giveaways. To expect giveaways for only your most avid followers is kind of missing the point. They're already your avid followers so they're going to be there regardless of a giveaway or not. The intention of the giveaway, imo, is to bring in new eyes to your content in hopes that at least a good amount of them will stay and continue watching your videos, or at the very least, help you with your sub count to build some reputation. That is unless you're just a very giving person and wanted to reward your utmost avid followers. That's fine, but it wouldn't personally be my own approach for a giveaway.
 
I feel you don't want to attract the wrong people. Currently I am doing giveaways on stream and I have a bot that lets me track if people are subscribed and how much total watch time they have on stream, si only people with certain amount of watch time can enter the raffle. You could try that out but streaming might not be your thing.
 
I have a colleague who pre-ordered the iphone 7 the day it was available to do so, he did it during his lunch break (for a really crappy job mind you) and cause he had account issues he spent his entire lunch break basically trying to pre-order it. There are people who will line up for days to get it, people who will buy it the same day they already bought a new phone even. I would not underestimate an iphone user's determination & dedication to get an iphone. It's beyond belief at times.
 
I am staying away from giveaways altogether. It just attracts the wrong type of people to your Channel. I want people to subscribe to me for the videos and not for the giveaways.

Well, in order to pull it off they have 600+ videos to go through, that's 17cents to a dollar per video, they'd be paying for their phone.[DOUBLEPOST=1474249128,1474248984][/DOUBLEPOST]

i said in the video "You dont have to subscribe, like or share" to win...so that's all on them.

Most likely yeah lol I think it's likely to happen in fact I'm curious to know if someone does try it xD
 
I would consider doing them very sparingly when I'm a little bigger, maybe. I'm more interested in doing something like patreon where my dedicated supporters get different benefits for their support etc.
