GiveAway Advice

I've Got It
Hello, so I recently just reached 100 sub on my gaming channel and I wanted to do something to keep the momentum going (Been getting 1-3 subs a day for the last week, which is a lot for me). So I am trying to devise a method of doing a giveaway that would maximize the most of the momentum, gain the maximum exposure with maximum virulity (damn that's a lot of max).

I am just interested in what you guys think, any suggestions from those who have done these before or if there are any legal issues involved. I am probably going to give away some upcoming games that has yet to be released on Steam.

How I would go about is make a video and outline how to enter and the restrictions. I am not giving away anything on this thread, just to make it clear ^^ in case it is against forum rules.

Possible Steps to Enter:
1) Find any videos with this " o 3o" as part of the title!
2) Like or Subscribe if want!
3) Meaningful comment (if applicable, the youtuber that referred you to this giveaway) no "lol" or "thats cool" or "haha".

Restrictions:
-Youtube Account must be at least 3 months old.

Originally, I thought I could use gmail and search for "o 3o" and I will get a list. Then I'd use a random number generator to obtain a number and then stroll down the gmail list of "o 3o" to find it. So if the number generator gives me 32, and theres 25 per gmail page, then id go to second page and pick the 7th comment.... HOWEVER, it seems gmail likes to clump comments together as a group. I could do a random number generator twice, if I encounter a clump.

Of course, I would also check if that person made a meaningful message, has an old enough account to reduce chance of being bot or alt account, or prevent mass posting. The game would be given away at release date.

------

The part where it might create more of a buzz is the referral part.
Let's say you find my giveaway and put a comment on that video and on 50 other videos that have that "o 3o" symbol and then you enter. Then you tell 5,000 other people to enter as well AND they put you down as a referrer in the comment entry. So if that 5,000 people leaves comments on all 50 videos and have you as a referrer.. then you have 250,000 entries + the 50 entries that you entered yourself... in the most ideal situation haha. Realistically, only a portion of that 5,000 will leave your name as a referral possibly on one video. Goal is of course to also make it simple enough.

I'd probably make a goal of 500 subs before release date before anything is given away.

I'd probably encourage youtubers to make videos telling others about me =p.

I would make a video with screen shots of the 2 game in gift form as proof that it at least exists. I would have to make it clear on who won though and mention that I would mention youtube accounts that won and screen shot of their entry.

I do understand that there will be people who will sub only for free stuff and dont give a dang about anything else and probably won't watch anything else afterwards (unless there is another giveaway). I am interested in any, if any, viewers who might follow me afterwards.

You actually have a pretty smart system worked out. Well done! Just remember that these subscribers might end up as 'dead subscribers', those inactive, and also that your goal is 5 times the number of subscribers as you're celebrating O.o

I hope the system will work how I think it would work.

If I get 500 subs for example, and at least 100 is real, I think it is worth it hehe. I do realize that subs dont mean diddly if theres no views to increase your youtube standing for searches.

I think to be successful you have to enjoy doing it, have luck, make the best quality videos you can, and utilize marketing/promotional strategies.

Gotta invest time and money into something sometimes to get it going ^^.

For giveaways you need to make it as simple for people to enter as possible. Just as an example. I did a giveaway of some Android dolls and all people had to do was post any comment on the video. Even with 8,000 subs I only got 150 entrants so that's about 2% penetration. For some reason I can't post ANY links in this thread so I can't show you an easy way to pick winners so maybe PM me.

Sounds like a good plan and yes, I think most of them may end up being inactive after the giveaway is over, but if it is to celebrate and maybe gain some audience in the short run, then it sounds good. :)

Yeah. It should be as simple as possible. It is simple, its just the referral system is slightly more complicated.[DOUBLEPOST=1375045146,1375045111][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah. most would be inactive, but somewhat worth it to get 5-10% real ones that care after giveaway.

We have done 5 give aways so far. First off they MUST always be a subscriber. As a matter of fact they have to PM their address to us. We give them 3 days or we pick new names out of the bowl. We have gotten tons of new subscribers and most all of them stay. Give aways are also fun, it feels good. A comment and a suggest to like the video is also always requested to enter. Of course we dont know if they liked the video or not but its worth the try. Our last call to action question was to tell us your favorite video and why out of all our videos. Forced the new subs to go back through our old videos. Genius if i do say so myself. :) Of course it has to be a good prize.

For a small channel, it seems like a good way to gain exposure. One can advertise, but that is limited and can annoy that various places you are advertising in. Yeah, I think the key is making them watch your other videos. Aside from making quality, good content.. a little bump would help. Basically potentially give someone a reward for giving your content a chance. I like your pokemon figures ^^.
