Girls and Youtube

Awh. The original comment makes me sad.. I wish that there were a lot more girls posting consistent content on YouTube outside of the beauty/guru realm. Maybe I'll just have to help add to more girls making consistent content! ;)

A lot you said here is very true!
The truth is woman can be very judgement, but more so with their own sex then with the opposite.
Most woman will look at content more then the sexual appearance of a man, but then there are women out there that can be just as bad as the pervy males.

But this can also make it harder for females yet again! If most men are looking at your channel for the way a female looks, then more likely the other women that come this this girls channel will be more judgement on her, meaning she will not gain any support from them. So it can be a no win in some ways...

Right. I feel like there's this large portion of men who just see girls and then rate them subconsciously or consciously on whether or not they are hot. But there is a SMALLER portion of women who do this. You will find an abundance of men who act that way toward women on youtube, but you will find that what is in deeper abundance when it comes to women is this desire for men to NOT be that way and listen to what they have to say. And when it comes to men more women are going to forgive physical flaws to listen to them than men will. In different areas the tendencies may be different and you never fully can say, but as a whole, I think men are more likely to ignore women they don't find sexually appealing than women are. Women are more likely to crave friendship over sex and men are more likely to do the opposite, with exceptions on both sides.

Agreed, although the beauty/makeup thing can be cool, I think as girls we need to expand our demographic and make content that will interest/entertain more people :)

Very true! But it's more easy to sell your look, then you personality...

You just brought up a GREAT point. For guys it's "bros before hoes" but for girls it's "My man before ALL dem other *******!!" Like... yes women are less likely to judge a male for his looks or treat him like an object, but they're MORE likely to have catfights with their girlfriends and be disloyal about respecting boundries when two girls like the same guy etc etc.

Exactly. There isn't anything wrong with beauty/makeup but it seems like the majority of girls on YouTube lean that way (for obvious reasons). But the category is basically on lock by some of the larger channels - Elle&Blair, Michelle Phan, MacBarbie07. I think that YouTube needs something fresh in the female category.

I totally agree with this, too. It's how society is.. and it's how YouTube is.. you see the videos with hot girl thumbnails obviously have more views than ones without them. :)

I agree. Girls need to do less 'girly' make up videos and branch out to all sorts of other things that aren't neccesarily girly. Ihascupquake does anything from lets plays to showing you how to make your own minecraft christmas ornaments. The only vids I've seen that are remotely girly are ones that show you how to highlight your tips. And she has a huge equal gender fanbase.

And as for women that leave pervy comments to men... most of them are very very rare and far between. And most of the time they're either cute or silly like 'omg omg have my babies' and whatnot. They never go into the gross and explicit and rude detail the pervy guys that say stuff like 'I just came hard to you'. Nor do girls ever insult guys on their looks. Those kinds of comments are also very few and far between. But you're right, rude and/or jealous girls do insult other girls for being ugly or 'fake'. So yeah... youtube females have it tough taking flak from both members, while men only have to deal with trolls.

At last we agree on something Lol...

It's very true, also very sad how an image means more then what is offer with a personality, but as long as men are told this is how it should be by outside sources then it will never change....
