Girls and Youtube

I'm going to try and make sense here here...but I disagree. From what I've seen, generally a girl will subscribe to a guy if they feel they're attractive and trendy, or they can relate to them. I notice a lot of my fashion haul/skincare videos do a lot better than my other videos. Basically, if you look like you can fit into One Direction girls will subscribe to you...even if you're not all that funny. On the other hand, I don't think females can build an audience based on being hot. Sure some guys will subscribe, but I don't think they'll stick around if you're not bringing anything else besides your looks to the table. Most of the big YouTubers you see, Daily Grace, Jenna Marbles, etx, are attractive but they're also really talented and funny...and that's why people watch.
I think we're talking about two different issues. I don't mean girls can't make it if they aren't hot, or guys have an easier time. What I mean is, guys aren't usually CRITICIZED for not being hot. It's just like "oh he's not that attractive, whatever" but when girls don't fit the "hot" standard, they usual get a fair amount of ridicule for it.

I am also a female youtuber, but I don't do all that stuff listed above.
I agree that there are a lot of girls trying to get "attention" by taking a picture of them when they are barely clothed and use it as thumbnail.

But keep in thought, not all of the YouTube girls are like that.

Not much I can add here but I'll just say that although looks may not make or break a youtube careers for women, looks will definitely help. It shines a spot light on them for a bit longer than most if the viewer likes what he sees. Sex sales and thats a fact.

You also have to realize that there are kids out there who will get angry that a female Youtuber has more views than them. Or if one attractive girl makes a terrible video, some people will never watch another female Youtuber's videos again or they will just give them hell for being female. More than anything, it's just immaturity.
Totally agree, it's such a shame as there are Youtubers of both genders who have so much to give :(

Well I mean, lots of men WILL listen to women who are not "attractive". It's just, if an unattractive guy makes a video and gets a million views, you will not see very many comments like "No thanks, I wouldn't hit it" or "Try shaving your chest, then maybe women will want you" But if a girl does she'll be listened to, while having to deal with "Lose weight" or "omg your eyebrows are HUGE" People don't give NEAR as much of a crap about a guy being unnattractive. But there are still plenty of people who do the same with women.
True, it's stupid, I guess it's a sort of modern form of sexism. It's never really been properly identified as such though...

only thing I know about girl youtubers is gamer girl vlog will get 40%-70% more views but I could be nitpicking certain youtubers that come to mind to be fair though if i was a decent looking girl I would kind of abuse that c_c, but I could obviously be wrong and now thinking what life would be like as a girl but I digress.
