Getting Started is the Hardest Part

Wow! I've been wanting to start to YouTube for months and let me tell me you getting started is the hardest part. First, I had to get all my equipment, then figure out how to use it, and then spend hours making videos they don't live up to my expectations. I only have one video up on my channel now, but my second video is currently uploading as this thread is being typed. Anyways, those two videos I spent hours making. My second video I re filmed three separate times on three different days and must have done over 100 takes of it. Talking to a camera isn't that easy and I feel like a lot people watch people like Tyler Oakley and are like, "what he is doing is so easy, I could do that." But it is wayyy harder then it looks. Here's thing, making videos is easy, but making good videos is really difficult. If you want to do YouTube my advice is just to get started and challenge yourself to make content, but don't be surprised if it doesn't live up to your expectations. I feel like as I keep going it will get easier and getting started is the hardest part. Maybe I can inspire someone to get started with this post.

I experienced both ways. My first channel took 1 year to get 100 subs. My second channel (this one) only took 1 month to get 500 subs. It's not that hard if you know where to look for your audience and make good content for them.

Probably shouldn't talk about this in this thread but I'm wondering how you managed to be so successful in a short amount of time, any tips?
 
In this thread I wasn't talking about the number of subs, but more quality content. It takes time to more quality content. You aren't going to be making good videos from the start.

You just left me scared and somehow extremely excited, and quite a coincidence too '3'

Today I finally got a camcorder (\o/ yay, I can do videos...maybe) but upon testing it I realized I had much to do (Specially on my part, meaning it felt really weird seeing myself on camera, but its probably cause I'm not very used to it), but observing my mistakes is how I will make my videos reach my expectatives (At least I hope I'll get better at it '-')

Nice motivational speech and nice motivational video, now I feel Hyped.

You have to make good videos. That's the secret many people have searched for, but it's in their faces the whole time. My videos may not be the best, but the majority enjoys them

Which proves my point is good videos take time. I think might part of the reason that your second channel is growing quicker because your videos are better.
 
I agree, getting started is the hard part, my first few videos were recorded by myself, I set the camera up to where the shot was where I was happy with it. Now I have help recording which I can work more camera shots of close ups of what I am doing.[DOUBLEPOST=1414637261,1414637211][/DOUBLEPOST]There is always the planning of each episode to make them unique and different, then the editing.
 
I would recommend to anyone starting out (or doing any creative endeavor) to read the book "Art & Fear: Observations On the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking" by David Bayles and Ted Orland. It literally changed my life. Before I read it, I had only dreamed about doing stuff. Now I actually do it.
