Getting over the fear?

It really has a lot to do with how you feel about yourself. The more you criticize yourself, the more you fear that others will do the same. I've made 10 videos and I'm still nervous when I'm about to film because my mind starts going "you're awful, you're ugly, [every insult known to man]..." and then I have to say "Mind, stop it, you're talking BS." :stop2:

Same goes for other people finding out. If you love what you're doing, it doesn't matter what others will think. I had one person finding out and they called my videos silly, and I thought yeah they might be a little silly if you think about it, but I loved making them and I'm proud that I did.
Well, I actually criticize myself a lot. And I know, I shouldn't do it ^^" But what you've told me, actually helped :) I just think, that sometimes I need a little push in the right direction. I really need to raise my confidence when it comes to this ^^" But thanks a lot :)

I used to have this fear about talking to people in person let alone on mic to my friends!
I think for me, I just talked myself into it so much that I was so pumped up with adrenalin and nerves that when I did it and they were okay and didn't laugh or judge me for how I spoke, it eventually got better.
I started to talk to people all over the world, and it felt amazing!

That sounds great :) I just hope that will happen for me some day :)

Just don't stop trying that's all I can say!!
I still stutter but people have come to say that's cute.. use your nerves as an advantage !! Never give up :)
I'm still going with it myself :D

Like lots of other people said, it can be scary at first but it gets so much easier the more you do it! And actually, I've found that being both behind and in front of the camera (which gives me freedom to say what I want AND the freedom to edit it and show people the best parts) is fun! You ARE just talking to yourself when you're in your room with your camera afterall. No one sees it until you decide to share it. So I'd say do practice runs without intending to put any videos online. Just to get the feel of it. I'm sure the more you do it the more you'll like it!

Dont be afraid. the rules to follow that may help:
-Don't do/say things that would embarrass you or make you look bad.
-Don't be fake
-Start off with just audio, no webcam, and use something else for background footage. Ease into it.

Likely your parents and or friends will think its a silly hobby right away, but as you start getting hundreds, thousands, and hundreds of thousands of views, they will likely see it as more legitimate even if they don't understand it.

Alright, I will remember that. Thank you :)

have you heard about the 30 days challenge? just push yourself to talk in front of a camera for a few minutes every day. you don't have to use the content you film, you can if you like. but the more often you do it the easier it goes. I make videos in English to learn to speak easier in English. I've also could have made videos in Dutch, but I already know Dutch fluently :p
