Getting more views on a cover?

Hey guys!

So I do piano covers. One cover I did was of Zedd's Clarity. It's obviously really popular, so I didn't expect many people to visit it.
The next cover I did was of Tesseract's Of Matter - Resist. Yeah, you likely haven't heard of it.

It's the only piano cover of that song on YT. Is there a way I can promote it, without being too desperate (posting on other videos, begging people to watch)? I'm pretty proud of it, and I'd really like others to see it as well.

if your willing to pay ( lots ) youtube promote is the best answer i think, others may disagree though...

Do songs that are well known, try some pop covers or something, you'll get more views on them. Try Video Game themes too.

Doing this will get you more views that could lead them to see some of your other covers if they like them. However, getting the rights to these can be a bit tricky.

That's a good point, but I don't think I want to do covers just to get views, ya know?
It may seem like I'm contradicting myself but I usually do a song if it feels good at that moment.

I'd use this time to hone and refine what you're doing to create more compelling videos for your channel rather than worrying about views on these early efforts. Audiences will find you if you're doing something unique.

In the meantime, I think there's a lot of room to find ways other than changing the types of songs you cover to make your videos more appealing. First and foremost, you *need* to clean up your sound. There's an awful hiss throughout the entire video which is basically death when you're asking people to listen to your playing. Next I would experiment visually - learn some editing techniques and maybe incorporate multiple camera angles. I personally found the static shot of the keyboard boring, and it doesn't do anything at all to connect the audience with you since you're basically not even in your own videos. Let us watch you play, see the emotion in your eyes and face as you work through the piece, and the shots of your hands can convey the technical side of your playing as a highlight rather than being all there is.

Finally, if these pieces are important to you and you're making these covers rather than pop songs or video game themes, take a moment in the videos to tell you audience why. Knowing why the piece is important to you will help them enjoy the song even if it's not something they're familiar with going in.

piano channel here as well.

I always try to post video responses to videos that contain the original music.
especially when the music is rather unknown people will understand and acknowledge your cover the best when they actually know the original song. and there is no better place to find those people than through the original song.
