Getting back into it after a long hiatus!?

I just came back from an 11-month hiatus due to University (and other things) getting in the way! I'm gonna try and stick to my schedule of every Sunday at 6 pm, and I really do hope I'll stick to it! When I came back I changed my logo and banners, and I'm gonna try my best to get back into the swing of things :P

Hey everyone! I'm back on youtube after being gone for a year. While I did have some loyal fans, my channel was previously kind of spotty, with some successful videos, and some that fell flat. I'm coming back with a lot of experience, from my job as a marketer and content creator for a brand, and I can now see my failings in some of my previous videos where I was not consistent in my own branding or even in quality, so I'm excited for what the future of my channel holds as a more seasoned creator, editor, and marketer.

However, I was afraid of what the reception of my channel would be like when I came back, and whether or not I would get like 10 views and -100 subs on the new video after being gone so long. The internet memory can be very short, after all, so maybe I would have to start from scratch again.

To those of you who have made a comeback, what was that experience like? Did you basically have to start over? Did you lose subs for a while before starting to grow again? Did growth take a long time?

Oh I just posted a thread about this tonight, and then I saw this post of yours too! I just uploaded my first video in over a year today. I was nervous, but it felt good. :) I literally kinda left without any warning, and basically fell off the face of the earth. But I needed the mental health break, and I'm glad I didn't push myself, and instead waited until I was ready.

I have another video recorded and ready to edit, and I'm going to work on that some tonight. It sounds lame, but I think the key to not falling off of things is the Shia Laboeuf method to "Just DO IT!" It's easier IMO to always be working on a video, so you won't think too much about the effort it will entail to get started. I am trying to do something for my channel every day so it stays top of mind, and so I can feel more ahead of things.

Best of luck on your comeback!! You got this :coolshades:[DOUBLEPOST=1531878381,1531877745][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh I just posted a thread about this tonight, and then I saw this post of yours too! I just back from a two week hiatus, my views and subscribers are starting to back to normal I lost 5 subscribers but then gained them all back after o upload my new video.

That's crazy that the drop happened so quickly! The internet memory really is very short. :unsure2: I took a year hiatus and definitely have a significant drop in views and engagement. But I still had more loyal fans than I thought! So that's a relief. Weirdly enough while I'm losing followers on twitter and IG, and while I'm losing on YT as well since the comeback, I'm still gaining. It's very interesting. It's hard to control or predict these things sometimes!

I think the 5 accounts drop was because of YouTube because people said they noticed they was unsubscribed and they didn’t un dub happened to me before I ended up unsubscribed from a few of favorites subscribers without unsubscribing[DOUBLEPOST=1532134081,1532133681][/DOUBLEPOST]

I see. Well, good to know it didn't really have to do with the two week hiatus at least! :up2:

I was getting ready to film on May 12 this year when I fell 12 feet off of the timber frame build I've been building solo on yt for over a year and shattered my ankle. I was uploading 5 to 7 videos a week, channel was growing steadily with over 13k subs and everything came to a halt. I'm just now starting to get some out again but it is not easy doing it on crutches. Focus has been hard for me lately. Good luck with it, just don't treat it like you have to do it, do it because it is fun.
