Genuine YouTube Friends?

Have you guys made any true friends through YouTube? People that you communicate with regularly, maybe met up in person or exchanged numbers?

I've got a couple people who regularly watch my videos, and I will regularly watch theirs, but I wouldn't consider anyone a close friend.

Pffffft, I mean first off to answer your direct question yes absolutely @Katherinejane001 is my very best friend in the whole world and I could never let her go from my life. But I can one up even that, I met my girlfriend through youtube and moved across the country to be with her and now we've been living together almost 4 months! Don't think it gets anymore genuine than that!

Wowww! A real life online-turned-IRL romance!
I don't think I could ever move across the country for someone on the internet! I'd be too afraid of being catfished or something hahah

I've been catfished actually, but that's what cameras are for lol. If you can see them through the camera and watch their reactions, they can't hide much more about themselves than they can talking to you in a restaurant. I mean even in the flesh people can lie about themselves or mislead you, but if you can see them one thing they can't fake is what you feel from their eyes/body language/and most importantly that they're the person they claim to be in looks and gender etc.

From experience though, never EVER get into a relationship if you have not been on cam with the person with both visual AND audio. When I was catfished they muted the audio, used footage of another girl typing to someone on a camera and told me their mic was broken. Then they stopped communicating that way and told me their webcam broke. Not sure how people do it, but they can put visuals on skype that aren't coming from a real webcam, so if you cannot both see them AND hear that they are having a real conversation with their voice, don't trust it man..... just don't.

I fell in love with a boy from Texas when I was 15/16. We used to spend a lot of time video chatting and I still have him on Facebook (his account is regularly updated with recent pictures) so I'm 99.9% sure he is the person I thought he was. Our love affair lasted less than a year.. but since then I have no interest in falling in love with someone that I cannot actually spend time with.

These days I mostly just spend time with my textbooks... student living. You know how it is.

Ps. I'm 23 now and this was a looong time ago!

Yeah I totally get those feels, not sure you can be sure they'll always be that way though. Like for me like... I didn't want that kind of relationship either, I even had another girl I was sort of flirting with the idea of being with at the time, but it kind of felt like being caught in a tornado or a tractor beam and for about 3 months while we were still just skyping I kept being like "GOSH DARN IT I'M FREAKING FALLING FOR THIS CHICK, NOT ALLOWED" lol But it just kinda.. like trying to outrun storm. You might escape long enough to think you've got this but at the end of the day, you're about to get wet lol

I'm in a skype group with a bunch of other YouTubers so I'm in contact with a bunch of them every day. Not going drop names for the sake of privacy, but I'm sure you've heard of a couple of them. So yea I've made pretty good friends with other youtubers, but haven't met them IRL.

Wouldn't you say though that your size makes that a bit more important? Like in that scenario it's not just a friendship it's almost like a business decision. I mean unless I'm misunderstanding due to your vagueness but it appears to me you're not naming names because these channels are large so isn't it almost like... your job to make those kinds of friends? Legitimately curious over here :)

Yes...we have been talking for..what?.....Over 2 years now? Geeze, maybe coming up on 3 in march? Wow...crazy.

Okay, why has no one catfished me? And I realize this on the same day two people unfollowed me on Twitter. Self-esteem crashing.
I have plans to meet up with some YouTubers when I am in their city or they are in mine, but we don't talk other than through comments and occasional Twitter DMs.
