Not very good with banners, but I'm screwing around with my video editing and doing things like image borders on the sides of SDTV games and an actual "subscribe" button, but there's gotta be a better annotation to use. Also attempting playlists, but unfortunately don't have more than one in any of the three playlists I have. I want to look professional, and I think I'm making progress, I just need advice.

Man your channel is really messed up!
Video editing is quite good, but it needs to work a lot!
I would suggest you to use this forum to post a request to make an awesome banner, logo and thumbnails for you :)
Audio is good, but it is messed up, the background noise is quite disturbing
The video quality is nice, 720p is awesome :)
Talking power is nice :)
You should make facebook or other social media page to promote your video :)

Hey @James Doppler !! Just checked out your channel and here are my thoughts:
  • I like the idea behind your way of covering up the black bars. Looks pretty sweet and retro. But the subscribe button does not stand out against the background of video games. Very easy for the casual viewer to overlook. I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it. You can use the "watermark" feature in your YouTube settings and upload that small subscribe button image as your watermark if you wish. Then when people hover over it, the subscribe box will popup without taking viewers away from the video.
  • The novel games tend to be slow for me to watch (in general, not just you). Without you adding consistent commentary, it makes it that less interesting.
  • In the future, you might consider splitting your longer videos (like SimAnt) into smaller parts. Then you'll have enough to make a playlist. Likewise, if you play any similar types of games in a series you could playlist though. Or maybe you want to playlist by genre. Can be whatever you want :)
  • Better video descriptions will help you rank better. And can be the next thing people see in the search results next to your thumbnail. You want an exciting description to bring in the viewers.

Appreciate it. I will definitely keep that in mind later when I'm recording. The Ant one I was told was too long, but one guy said he watched it all the way. The comment about it being too long is why I started shortening a bit or at least trimming out the repetitive parts. I cut out like 10 minutes of Bible Adventures where I screwed up and had to go back. The time limit itself can be tricky because of finding save points, but come to think of it, there's always save states.
 
Okay right to the point. Do you have a pop filter on your microphone? It doesn't sound much like you do, maybe invest in a better on or a better mic. Banner and avatar could be "cleaner" i guess would be a good term. There are plenty of artist on YTtalk and other websites that would make you a new banner and avatar in exchange for a shoutout or something along those lines. Other than that stuff theres not much bad about your channel. I love your selection of games. I love old school gaming stuff. You kinda remind me of JonTron in that sense. Good luck man!
