Gateway Videos...?

My channel trailer lasts about 2 minutes, and is basically a showcase of classic moments from my uploads whilst covering what I regularly get up to - in my case it's retro, ETS2, Minecraft, Kerbal and Sonic-related stuff while pointing out the fun I have with friends and family and that I like to interact with the community. I somehow managed to condense that into a short video and I think that since putting it up nearly a week ago it's working nicely.
Ah, I see :)

That sounds like a cool idea. I probably need to record a little more before I do something like that though, since I don't have too much right now.

From my experience watching my friends livestream, I can say that it gives the chance for their subs and fans to interact with them a lot better. My friends usually invite people from the livestream to jump in and have fun. This was always with multiplayer games though. I can't be sure about single player, as I've never seen a SP livestream. You can totally tell a difference between them though. I suppose there's a bigger level of communication and it's live.

Yeah, but I wonder if the kinda slower pace and less planned and scheduled play style typical of livestreams would be enjoyed by Let's Play viewers watching the recorded livestream later. I've never really watched many Let's Plays, so I'm not too sure how well they compare, but in livestreams I have always only enjoyed them for the atmosphere of the game being played and the company of the streamer, not caring too much about pace or content.

I always liked livestreams so I could jump in and play with the streamer and that there was chat box so you could chat to friends and other fans while you watched. Kind of a more sense of 'togetherness' than a LP.

Definitely. I like livestreams better in every way for typical gameplay. I could see the attraction of a Let's Play if there were some particular experience that needed quick and clean filming, like a speedrun or some sort of event, but most of the time I'd prefer to be there while the streamer plays, chatting about whatever.

LPs would be easier for me because I don't yet have a mic for live commentary. I use my iPhone to record my voice at the moment. It works a lot better than I expected it would. I have livestreamed a few things before but not a whole lot. I wonder if they are still saved on my Livestream account....?

Then do both. I upload LP's to my YT channel and on the final weekend of the month I have a 4-hour livestream over on Twitch. I'm happy, viewers are happy... everyone's happy ;)

That sounds like a great idea. Just need to figure out live mic issues and stuff. You are all very helpful! :D

(Sorry, this has gone terribly off topic).

I just use my iPhone at the moment to record commentary. I have an Xbox mic but unforunatley the end of it wouldn't fit into my computer. Although, I do have a wired Xbox controller so I wonder if I could use that by plugging it in with the mic attached and speaking through that...

You can get microphones for pocket change, it's often less bother to just buy a cheap new one than fiddling with what you have on hand. The quality you'll actually need I don't really know, but most Youtubers and so on use gaming headset mics that aren't terrible but aren't so great either, but not that much audio quality can really go through streaming over the Internet.
