GAMERS HELP! My Subscribers Are Asking For Gaming Videos?

AYRENvids

I need to stop caring too much.
I guess I'd be considered a vlogger. I usually talk about my experiences, rant or make a skit here and there. I've never done gaming videos before but my subscribers know that I do play games in real life.

Some of them kept suggesting a gaming video so I made a video where I asked whether they'd like to see me do gaming and what I should play. I didn't get many suggestions for games to play but enough people, the more active subs I think, did say they wanted a gaming video.

I don't have anything against this and I'm going to do it. But since I've never been a gamer youtuber, I don't know how to avoid copyright problems and whatever issues might come up. So this is where I need help.

How do I make gaming videos without getting into trouble? Can I even monetize them? How long should the videos be considering I'm just starting with this new area of youtubing? Something else I should know about?

You can monetize gaming videos, you can't monetize gaming videos without commentary and with copyrighted music (background music etc). So as long as you have a commentary over the video and music turned off, you're good.

Thanks so much for replying :D

Hey man yea, most games are fine to do videos on as long as you have commentary over them while you play them,. You can still cut them in and out to your own demise. Make sure you only have the game sounds over the top etc unless you have non copyrighted music playing with your commentary

You only need to watch out on doing videos for games is when they are new or in beta. You need to check they allow you to record videos of there games.

You can just search The game name on YouTube and if it on there on other peoples channels your pretty safe!

Always get written permission if you plan on monetising, don't listen to anyone who says do this and that, you can still get busted even without music because the content ID manager can pick up visual content too. The new system in place makes it much harder to monetise gaming videos. My advice would be to avoid monetising altoghether.

A list of the permissions granted by various developers. In all cases be sure to mute in game music (other sound is fine) and of course talk over it but as a vlogger they probably expect you to provide a commentary.

The do's and donts

- Have something to talk about
- Make sure you PC can actually run the game before you start recording
- Have a decent quality mic
- Dont ramble or constantly say "ehm", "uhm"
- Its up to you wether or not you want live or post commentary
- Dont use the recorder to record your mic, use Audacity
- The average gameplay/commentary video lasts around 8:30-10 minutes long
- Copyright wise regardless if you have commentary or anything over it theres always a chance of getting hit, you can even get hit with the visual of a character not just the music, cut scenes can also get you hit, if your like me you dont monetize your videos at all and just do it because you like doing and want to put a smile on your fans faces and make their day, but you sound like your in it for the money so do your research before you upload the video

Thanks for the info.
I asked about monetization cuz this first gaming video is going on the channel I have right now just to see how it does, and all videos on that channel are monetized so I was wondering about this one as well. If it does really well and the gaming becomes something on its own, I'm probably gonna make a second channel to not mix everything up and also gonna contact Fullscreen about their gaming side. I actually wonder about this too, I'm partenered with Fullscreen/Creator X but Fullscreen also has something called Fullscreen Arcade for gamers and so I was wondering, if I'm already partnered with Creator X and I make a gaming channel, should I try applying to Fullscreen Arcade as well? Is that even possible? Might be a stupid question. Or will my second channel already be partnered with Fullscreen since the main one is? Or if not, will I have to email them about now having a second channel so that they could partner that one as well?

Thats kind of tough alright

If all goes well and you make a second channel, I doubt your network is going to take on a channel with 30-40 subs even though you have your main channel with loads of subs, if I was head of the network I would'nt bother unless I seen some real growth and interest in that channel after being set up, if it does go well and you still want to partner the channel send them an email to let them know what going down and what your planning on doing, butter it up, make it sound like partnering this channel is a good move. Thats what I would do personally but yeah go for it!
