Fullscreen ranted about??

Pwnage

Loving YTtalk
So I myself am a proud Fullscreen partner however I don't like some of the things that goes on with the MCN. A 109k channel ranted about Fullscreen, what do you think about this?

I like Fullscreen overall.

I think their dashboard and tools are definitely the best of any MCN partnering smaller channels, still probably not worth even close 30% as I worked it out as likely costing them about $2 per partner.
but alot better than most MCNs and therefore not something you can get really anywhere else.

Two things that I not really have an issue with but could definitely have been done better.
  • Talent manager assigned to every channel : while this may have looked good as a smaller network it didn't work out at all with their current partnering strategy, the whole point of having a talent manager is that they only have 15-30 other channels to look after and so have alot of time to help you personally instead of just giving copy/paste generic answers. So when you have 100s possibly even 1000s of channels per talent manager that concept is next to useless and just costs them more money so they have to take a bigger share.
  • Gorilla : A system that allowed brands to serve integrated campaigns across 10s of 1000s of channels at once is a brilliant concept! But again I think it is was pretty badly implemented, they only have 2-3 staff assigned to the whole programme and that ends up with very little and limited campaigns per quarter. A good 50% of campaigns are just "shoutout this channel" which is a loss for Fullscreen and a waste of a powerful system.
Adsales is another thing that could be improved apon but I'm not going to hit on that in this post because it would be an awfully long post :p

Video :
So I just actually watched the video and I have to say he has no clue what he's on about :D
Managed was only meant for O&O channels, or channels ran by the MCN, YouTube never knew it was going to turn into this incentive for bigger channels.
Any MCN that puts 100s-1000s of channels on managed gets a reality check on how hard it is to prevent 10 strikes in 3 months and also a word from YouTube.
It's not that they don't care, quite the opposite, they care enough to not let you lose features and possibly even being able to upload because of something a few other channels did.

"MCNs are designed to protect you from copyright" No, this was never the case, YouTube may have made a mistake in making the monetization of MCN content different from normal partners, but this was never stated by either YouTube or MCNs.
The monetization review process was coming at some point anyone could have guessed that, it was not one partner a fullscreen nor the 100s-1000s that were using music content (not 1 as he said).
YouTube have been, for the last year or so, getting rid of the differences between MCN partnerships and direct partnerships because they never should have been there, MCNs should be joined for what they offer not what YouTube offers for them.

Talent/partner managers at Fullscreen prioritize their clients. So if you aren't getting answers in a timely fashion, you're probably not high up enough on the food chain. I usually get a response within 15 minutes and it's never a copy/paste answer. Sadly, the channels who often need their partner managers the most are small channels and they aren't going to get response times like I do.

I'm not exactly a big fan of the Gorilla program, but I can see how it's useful. Just be aware that not every channel sees every campaign. Campaigns are targeted. Those that shout out channels are a mix from two sources. The internal ones are used as a reward for Fullscreen partnered channels. If you do something for them, you can get rewarded with a Gorilla Campaign to promote your channel. Most of them are from outside sources-channels with corporate backing that have money to burn to get exposure. I see a ton of Google funded channels getting campaigns.

As for the video, all I can say is that someone is very misinformed and obviously never read his contract. He also doesn't follow the court cases he cites very well or he would have known at least 1 fact from them.

People rant about various networks. Whether it be Machinima, TGN, Fullscreen etc. You see it here on YTtalk, other forums, YouTube videos etc.

At the end of the day, it is one person's opinion on the network and for them it hasn't been good for them. Most MCNs these days have hundreds if not thousands of partners. So I hardly see how one large person complaining is going to hurt the company.

40 minutes? Can you give me the cliff notes version?
he doesnt agree with fullscreen not making channels managed
he doesnt like the fact that fullscreen dont help him with his copyright issues
he feels he's been lied to by his partner manager
he feels other mcns can offer him more
he wants to leave fullscreen[DOUBLEPOST=1398194039,1398193976][/DOUBLEPOST]

it's obvious he didnt read the contract because he didnt even know about the automatic term renewal period that is stated in the contract, true.[DOUBLEPOST=1398194183][/DOUBLEPOST]

i agree with you there on most things! i actually talk to my partner manager on skype about whatever i want to and he talks normally rather than copy and paste answers. for example, we can talk about game of thrones if we wanted to. i believe he is the best partner manager at fullscreen but i dont know what i'll do once he leaves. i think dan was in this position where he had someone good and now it's just someone that helps using a knowledge bank.[DOUBLEPOST=1398194254][/DOUBLEPOST]
Looking at his twitter that other MCN is Machinima :p

Yet another thing saying he likely hasn't done much research.
lol i couldnt stop laughing when in the video, he praised machinima by saying how they offer partners games two weeks early but fullscreen would never do that. he obviously hasnt seen the downfall of machinima in the past year :giggle:[DOUBLEPOST=1398194335][/DOUBLEPOST]

in the video, he made a point saying that fullscreen would be nothing without the partners and that he is a flagship partner seeing he has 109k hahahahahaaa
