Friends before collabs

So in Jenna Marbles' new podcast she spoke about how she prefers to be friends with a fellow YouTuber before making a collab with them.
I realised I totally agree with this, it shouldn't be all about sharing subscribers but making something great because you both like each other.
So how about you? Do you prefer to be friends with someone before collabing or are you up for filming with anyone? :D
 
I would not want to work with someone that I do not know. You need to be on the same wavelength as the person you are doing a collab with. If you're not on the same wavelength, your video just won't work!
 
Agreed with TheDutchTexan, if you don't even know the person you're gonna be working with, what is the fun? Think of it this way, if you're gonna collab just to get subs, then what is the fun of Youtubing. Youtubing is supposed to be something you and your viewers enjoy, not only a business.

I prefer to make friends with Youtubers then collab with them because i don't want to collab with someone that i don't know.
 
Yeh I think its really obvious when the Person has just met the other and I don't like it. its more of a business transaction that way

How about making friends through collab? hahaha but yes I do agree knowing that person beforehand helps a lot! But I also think you can get to know a person a bit by watching their videos n know if you would like to collab with him/her.

There are Youtubers i watch and some of them i would like to collab with them as all so you are getting to know them a bit by watching there videos..
