Friend doesn't feel "photogenic enough for YouTube"

guys dont force her, the fact is that only she can make the videos and only she would be wanting to do it. artist have to face this kind of problems most of the time, i always see people mocking the youtuber for mistakes. its not o.k to throw her into a unfriendly place just because you guys had adjusted to it.

Nobody seems to be forcing anybody to do anything - simply helpful advice. If her only problem is that she doesn't feel photogenic enough then the common advice of "don't show your face" would seem to be a good tip.

Honestly, Especially with crafy types of videos looks dont matter at all!
Plus, theres no such thing as 'not photogenic enough' for youtube, or in general in my oppinion!
Maybe she should just start out without showing her face, Maybe have a camera looking down at her hands like how she looks down at them herself and one camera pointing towards her hands and workspace from further away?

She should try and start one for sure!

There are so many pretty girls on youtube obsessed with themselves. People would love to watch someone humble especially someone talented. She should definitely do it

I have a friend at work who is immensely talented. She makes these incredible cakes and crafts for her friends, sometimes for a small fee. Most of them have these cool video game themes that I know are in high demand! I keep telling her that she should start a youtube channel showing off her cakes and offering how-to instructionals.

She's a wonderful, smart, funny woman, with two beautiful sons and an awesome husband.

But, she doesn't feel photogenic enough to make a channel, and I think that's heartbreaking :\

I'd like to send her some encouragement from the youtube community, and let her know it's not just me who thinks that's totally not the case. While boobs get views (I'm getting implants next month for that reason), that's definitely not the only thing that does, right? Quality, intriguing videos on cool subjects rock!

Thoughts?
If she doesn't feel comfortable, I don't think it should be forced. YouTube should be a fun experience! I can 100% respect that she isn't comfortable with her appearance. YouTube just isnt for everyone! :biggrin:I hope this helped!

I can completely understand the fear of being on camera as I went thru that starting out because I don't think I look that good (and trust me I'm no young John Stamos lmao) but if she really doesn't want to show her face she doesn't have to. If she decides to though I mean you are looked at more for your content than what you look like.

That's really sad. YouTube isn't about beauty (unless, of course, you have a beauty channel....); it's about making good quality videos that people enjoy. Many popular YouTubers aren't that attractive by conventional means (or any means). People aren't looking to them for that; they are looking for entertainment, instruction, advice, etc.

If she has talent, she will be appreciated.

YouTube is something you have to WANT to do. There is no half in or half out. You must be committed, and you must like creating content. The way you look might matter to some, but the grand majority is there for the content you create, not to see some pretty face. (Unless your channel is all about beauty, then things tip into the "good looking" favor).

I think I would be a prime example. Balding, turning 34 and with a uni brow. Yet people don't give a crap, and neither do I. Do what you want to do.
