Look, this is just an opinion from a fellow designer. Claiming that you'll put "more effort" into a paid banner just seems like you're really only after cash. You should put ALL your effort into any piece you do. Word gets around, and you'll have more chance of gaining loyal customers that way instead of asking for money for work.

He said more time not effort, which is completely understandable because you can afford to put the time in.

So what, he'll just sit there with an hour timer and you get whatever he gives you?
Not quite an hour timer, but say he has 30 minutes spare until he has a dinner date with his wife, or going to a BBQ with friends that he organised earlier that week. He decides to make a banner in this 30mins - plenty of time for a decent banner. He gets creative block and isn't happy with the result - he is not going to eat into his leisure time for what is basically a favour for a stranger. Whereas if that person has paid for a service, he instead might NOT arrange to hang out with friends, so he knows he'll have time - or arrange to have dinner a little later. He is compensated for his time. Factor in things like work, inescapable commitments - things that constitute "a life" - and time is pretty valuable. You might be too young to understand but hopefully this shed some light for you.

TO YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND!! HAHAHAHA. Yeah man, because I'm 8 years old. I'm not going to bother explaining any further, wouldn't want to waste your valuable time.

So he shouldn't be asking money for his work? Great business model you're proposing there.

When did I state that? I just don't think he should be offering a "Free" service that provides lower quality work. You should push out great quality work whether it be paid or not. I've done projects for free and for anywhere up to $150 and I put my all into every piece.

To pay in American dollars it will be about $5... And Goblin I am just offering people who have the opportunity to pay me can pay me and get extra goodies! I have no problems doing free banners still however offering paid services as well is better than not offering, surely?
