For all those asking what to do with your channel...

Kinda way into New Girl
I've noticed a lot lately (especially in the strategies & techniques forum) people asking what they should do with their channels or what kinds of content they should come up with. Now, I by no means want to come off offensive to those that have done this. I think it has its purposes asking other YouTubers what to do in situations where you are questioning your next step. Just as long as it is taken with a grain of salt. Because, in the end no matter what anyone tells you to do, your decisions should be made solely because it is what YOU want to do.
I have seen too many times people listen to advice that goes against their personal preferences and it comes back to bite them. If you are getting bored with the content you are making then change it. Do what makes you happiest first and the rest will come after.

I have the impression that those asking what to do... are doing videos for the sake of it. As if they were obliged. You usually start a channel because you have something to say, show or share on topics you know about or love. But it seems some do it just because they have fantasized they can become famous or make a lot of money in a matter of days, and keep a channel alive as if they felt forced, as it were a job, an unpaid one, but don't really have nothing to say, they just think they must keep it alive at any cost or they'll have to admit they've failed.

Do it for fun or you'll end up hating what you do.

I agree. You must have a clear goal in mind, even if it's far-fetched (like shooting for the stars) or you'll never get anywhere and lose motivation.

Totally Agree! Its their channel and their viewership. I'm all for helping people but when they come to depend on a third party forum to keep their channel going its getting bad.

The quality of their content will suffer from their own disinterest and their audience will be to able to tell that the creator's heart isn't in it. That's as big a bite in the a**e as it gets really!

Yup.

I have noticed it's usually people who only hang around for a post or two too.

I think if you are going to have a youtube channel, you need to have some idea of what you want to do with it. Rather than coming on a forum and asking other people.

I think they do it for the sake of it.

I have a similar gripe with the people who always ask what their next video should be. You should just do what video you want to do, and if you can't come up with any ideas, take a break from youtube and brain storm that shizzle.

Someone I know messaged me saying they wanted to start a YouTube and if I could help, I said yeah sure, her next sentence was...
'Well we don't know what to do really' um maybe you aren't ready for a channel if you don't have a single idea of what to film.
I remember when I started I had compiled a list of topics over the space of five months of courage building and my list is still growing now :) (it had lots of line through though, I've filmed those ones)
