First YouTube Video Help.

Hey everyone!

I've been thinking about uploading a my first YouTube video ever. I don't have a capture card, or an extra mic, nor do I have the money to afford them at this time. I do, however, have a ps4 and my computer has a built in mic. I was thinking of uploading a short intro vid of my ps4 gameplay explaining what my channel will be about, and so on. My problem is, I'm extremely shy when it comes to actually recording my voice, but I'm pretty sure that's how a lot of people start out. Anyway, how can I make a really interesting intro vid without sounding nervous? And what did you guys do for your very first YouTube video? Were you also shy/nervous?
 
I had the same problem with the shyness, You got to remember no one is perfect right away. It took me 3 channels to get comfortable with talking. If it helps you just pretend like you are talking to a friend.
Also start with what you have, after all you might regret it if you dont give it a shot.

Its hard when you first start the only real advice I have for you is to just say what you want to say let it come out naturally or practice what you want to say first, key points you want to cover to keep you on track like who you are, what you want to do, and maybe a fact or two about yourself. Just remember no one is looking at you, no one is watching you (face to face obviously not in video) so just breath in say what you need to say the more video you create the more comfortable you will get but you have to start somewhere :D
 
Definitely! I think it is normal to be nervous. When I started my blog I just wanted to do videos for it...so I set up a nice background and gave it a shot. Wow, was it hard! I figured it wasn't for me so I just wrote in my blog. Then, we didn't have internet because we were moving and I thought that it would be a lot easier to make a video and edit it than to go to the library and write in my blog. Well, my son was sleeping and I knew I had to hurry so I went ahead and took the video. Sure, it's not perfect...but since then I've been doing videos every week. :) I think it just takes time to get used to the camera. Act like the camera is a close friend and maybe that will help. :)
 
I didn't really feel nervous, just weird. I mean, you're talking to yourself, basically. Or to a computer screen. I'm still new to this whole YouTube thing too, so I for one can tell you that my commentary still needs a lot of work.
 
Sound confident, speak up, and be yourself(lol sounds like life advice). Let them know what to expect on your channel and give them an incentive to subscribe and a reason to come back to your channel every week.
 
Thanks so much for all the advice! Since I will be a gamer I was thinking about starting with weekly uploads then as I got more subscribers it would go to twice a week, then 3 times a week, and so on. Something like that. haha I will definitely keep everything you all have said in mind. :D
