First page with no views?

Put a video up a couple of hours ago after doing my keyword research. It ranked 2nd on the first page immediately and I have gotten no views. Is this normal? Does it take a while for views and everything to catch on? It's a highly searched keyword with little competition, not sure what's happening.
 
Yes.

My views only update day by day. I think that's normal.

So like one video could have 30 views but then tomorrow it will have 140.
 
YouTube likes to show estimated real time views on it's analytics platforms and almost no views on the actual search area. The search results only update daily it seems. I will show 100 views on a video and only like 5 in the search area. Check the creator studio app. That has solid real time estimates.
 
youtube is like google search, it will tailor it to you. you need to log on a separate computer, without being logged in to get true search results with no outside influence.
i often see my own videos a lot, when im logged in, but on a random other place, like the TV downstairs, its harder to find my vids XD

Yeah man, completely normal. You'll get some YouTube search engine views in time, but you can also share your videos with other people to help give it a boost. I recommend sharing it with your Facebook friends and that'll help give the video a little traction so it will show up more for other random people on YouTube (like in the related videos section on other people's vids with a similar theme). If you're not comfortable sharing on Facebook, or wherever you can reach a lot of people that are more likely to support you more in the beginning, I also would recommend getting comfortable with it. :) It's quite fun and motivating to hear your friend's or acquaintance's feedback.
 
Interesting! I'll have to keep a check on the counter over the next few days!

Also on the first page where it's ranking no video has less than 1000 views so I'm hoping I get some traffic soon!

Yeah, you'll show up in your own searches and recommendations more than you will for other people. It's annoying at times, because it looks like I'm showing up as a recommended video, but it's only because I'm logged into my own system.
