Finding it really hard to make videos at University ...

I guess I'm just venting a little bit.

So recently I have moved away from home and moved to live at University, studying Computer Science.
I can manage the work load and everything, I can fit socializing in and whatever, but I find making videos so hard - and it's not because of time. It's because I'm living with 5 people, who I hardly know.
I'm not the most confident person, but my "real" personality is someone who is just crazy, It's hidden here at the minute and I can't make videos without being myself- it sucks because I was really enjoying making the videos too. Especially when one of them made it big on Reddit (Removed the original, because it involved my drunken Aunt, but she let me off the hook in the end), It's motivating to see people enjoy your videos, but it also sucks to see someone un-subscribe because you can't actually make a video.

If any of you are in a similar situation or could offer some advice, I'd appreciate it.

You've just gotta make the best out of a bad situation.

Maybe you will have to decrease your upload schedule, doing videos when your room mates are out. Maybe you have to focus on shorter videos.

There are ways you can continue, you just have to figure out what way suits you best, and adapt to the changes.
 
Just do it man, dont care what anyone else thinks, do it for YOU. And who knows, maybe they will think its cool and you'll be stuck wondering why you didnt do it sooner :) Good luck with it all
 
Depending on how "mobile" you are, couldn't you use "spare" rooms from the university? I know that moving a full PC might be lame, but if your content can be recorded with a laptop, it'd be an option.

You could try to find somewhere hidden away: a bathroom, a library corner, behind a fast food restaurant. You could even make it a running joke about needing to go somewhere to be you.
 
You could always tell them? Say you make YouTube videos? I'm sure a few would find it cool anyway. & then maybe show them a video you are proud of? Then it will get easier :) things take time but good luck!
 
We are at university too and daily vloggers - that means uploading everyday which we have been naughty about (Leon has no internet at the moment so that is our excuse!). But you have to set times for everything - I work throughout the day, socialise and then edit/upload. Tell your new flat mates and if they don't like it so what? I spent first year trying to suppress my personality and it totally didnt work, so be yourself around them or you won't enjoy uni, life or your videos! If you really like making videos this wouldn't even occur so go now and make a video. like. right now! - Hannah

I can relate 100%! Mainly I could hardly post because of my time and how badly I procrastinate, LOL! But, just get to know these guys. Tell them what you're doing once you guys are cool and they probably won't mind. But when you tell them what you're doing, don't feel ashamed of it. BE PROUD! But always be courteous to other people's schedules and such, and discuss times where you could possibly record. Hell, maybe get some of them in on it!
