Finally some more information on Fan Finder

1000 subs in the grand scheme of things isn't a massive number. Sure, a channel with 1000 subscribers probably has some level of natural growth, but I think it's probably the smallest size channel that Youtube could do this with realistically - if the boundary was 100 then the fanfinder service would be completely overloaded!

Not impossible, just significantly more time consuming than compared to the old days lol but the amount of time it can take can make it seem impossible :/

I know right lol the only people I can see using this are corporate companies for obvious marketing reasons or people under the 1000 sub mark who actually need exposure. I bet they haven't even updated it to inform people who haven't used it yet lol they'll wait till they make a video, wait 3-4 months and then go "oh btw, you needed 1000 subs to use this". lol

In the past, if you were rejected when you applied for the partner program, youtube made you wait several months before reapplying. I was turned down 5 times before I was finally accepted. I didn't make any money on many of those videos during that time period. Many to this day (Some with millions of views) never made 1 penny. So I understand doing something and it not turning out how you expected or not getting a return. This fan program was in beta a long time ago and I made a video because they were asking for videos to test the program on. Mine was never accepted. You learn to roll with the punches. If you made an advertisement however, there is a promotion tool that you can use through adsense. They say it takes money to make money. You might try putting in $50 or so and see where that gets you. If you sign up and are new, I think they give you a $50 card to use on adsense. And sometimes they come in emails if you are signed up for promotions.

Yeah I've used AdWords before. It worked surprisingly well. I'm not saying YouTube HAVE to advertise my fan finder thing I just wish they said it was 1000 subs before I spent time making something for it lol It's not a major issue though since I made the video in such a way that it could be a channel trailer as well. Just YouTube being stupid that annoys me.
 
I'd submitted a video as soon as it got released, and was under the impression it was actually working until I saw this and checked the page! :/
 
To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if you needed something like 10k subs to use fan finder, look how many channels have over 1k subs. If you do actually need 1k subs for this featured then YouTube is now gonna have to accommodate for the majority of channels with over 1k subs spamming videos into the fan finder system.

Now imagine if they did this with every channel ? They would be spending time a resources far beyond what they would if they add restrictions to this. Also a lot of small youtubers pack YouTube in way before they even get to 1k subs. I only started my channel like 9 months ago, yet in that time I have probably seen more then a couple of hundred channels just come and go.
 
I wouldn't bother with it too much. I have almost 9k subs and I submit my trailer to Fan Finder months and months ago. Completely forgot about it. Just checked on it and...........yup, its still waiting. lol
 
I have yet to see a single channel being advertised through the fan finder program, and part of the reason is that they are backlogged. I have over 30k subbers and what people tell me is a great channel ad, but so far YouTube says I'm still "in the queue" because of the overwhelming response they've gotten. Think of how many crappy channel ads YouTube has to shift through before they put them up.

It makes the most sense from a business perspective for them to want the more highly subscribed videos to get promoted first because they are in the business of selling adspace first. They get to pick and choose who they think has the most growth potential. No one said this had to be fair, I mean it's a free service after all.
 
Well they are doing it for free, so you shouldn't complain about their rules.

I think the 1k mark is good. Not just because I have more than that, but it makes sense. Why would they promote someone with barely any subs? Plus it would be difficult to know who would be interested in your content when you don't have many subs.

I'm not complaining entirely about the 1k rule, that's fine, stupid, but fine, I'm complaining that it wasn't mentioned anywhere at all prior to me and probably many others taking the time to create the ad & checking back every now and then. They should have written it somewhere for us to see before we made it and waited lol the other thing is, if I had known back then I would have gone and made a much better channel trailer because part of the fan finder rules was that you couldn't use footage that was copyrighted or that you didn't have permission to, so I was restricted in what footage I could use to represent my channel.

Why are you complaining about this 1k sub "rule" like they would actually promote your videos when you have 1k subscribers. No they won't. In fact Youtube probably won't promote anyone's channel that have under 100k subscribers. Youtube is a business and will never promote small channels. I thought everyone already knew this. Like babyteeth4 mentioned, even with 30k subs, fan finder is not promoting their video.
