Finally! A decent space to make videos!

Welp, I wanted to post this because I am quite excited by my achievements today! I have finally found a great spot in my house for me to shoot videos from. I almost face palmed when the idea hit me like a sack of bricks. I made a post a while back about what I should do for a background since I didn't have a lot of space to just have a big backdrop placed somewhere. Well today I was thinking about what some of the people said in the replies.

The basic idea is to just take a flat rectangular bed sheet and hang it up behind me. Sounds easy right? Well not for my current situation. I don't want to bother other people by taking up space and I don't want the sounds of TVs in the back ground. I was thinking about this while cleaning my room and it hits me. I have a small corner of the room at the foot of my bead where the closet door is on one wall and the window in on the adjacent wall. I moved some stuff around and put a spare bed sheet from the top of the door across to the corner of the window and clothes pinned it up cutting across the corner.

It is exactly wide enough for the camera to not catch the walls, but still shows a few feet of space around my body, so I am not just taking up the entire screen. I am literally using a 4ft x 4ft area of my bedroom and I am amazed by how good it looks. It is much much much better than just having my room as the background and it makes me feel like I am taking a big step to making sure that when I get my channel up and going that the videos will be looking great! The lighting is not half bad either ^_^ Now all I have to do is go buy a cheap plane color sheet to use. I am thinking white or a very light grey. Not sure what color to get hahaha.

Congrats! Sometimes there are simple answers staring at you!

I had a lighting problem for months. I had this big light I was using for filming, many no matter where I pointed, no matter what angle or height, I always had a shadow somewhere behind me. Then one day, I forgot to angle it at all. It was directed at the ceiling....at it reflected the light almost perfectly... So embarrassing! Happy to finally have a solution.

Cheers.

Thank you and yeah it is funny how things work like that![DOUBLEPOST=1453268870,1453194595][/DOUBLEPOST]I got the sheets today and ironed them and all. So here is what it looks like with everything all set up for the first time. I have a little bit of a shadow, but I can't seem to get rid of it with my desk lamp. Oh well. It doesn't look terrible at least xD

Well brother, I used this idea to shoot my VLOG videos before. I used my plain BLUE bedsheet, I just place the mattress behind me and adjust the lighting to get good exposure. However congrats that you found the space in your house. Keep up the good work.

Oh that's a nice idea with the mattress. I would hate to have to always flip it up though lol. Thank you!
