Final Cut Pro versus iMovie

I need to upgrade my editing program, but is Final Cut Pro hard to get used to after using iMovie for a few years?

Final cut pro X will be very easy to use if you have been using Imovie. Premiere is a better editor in my opinion, but it will be much harder to learn.

That's good news! I'm not looking for the best, just something better than iMovie that I can learn quickly.

Final Cut Pro X is defiantly a step up from IMovie, but FCP 7 or Premiere Pro are much more powerful. :) Good luck!

IMovie and advanced settings should not be in the same sentence. Picture in picture is far from advanced, and the greenscreen function is no where near what it is in Premiere or FCP. They are miles apart.

I realize that. I have both programs. Its just that imovie is a darn good place to start.

have you been using advanced settings for imovie? it allows picture in picture and green screen!

No - I didn't know about this, but I found it now. I'll mess around with this for a while. I eventually will upgrade, so thanks everyone for the continued help.
