Believe me I've read through more than just a Wikipedia page, and the literature still left room to be interpreted the way that I had. I'd like to learn more about this so that going forward I can be prepared accordingly. If you are educated on the topic, do you know if there is any consideration in the situation when somebody tries to enforce a copyright on content that they got the license to after the parody had been created? In other words, does sale/transfer of copyright allow the new owner to make claims against any pre-existing works that they believe infringe on it?
If you had a license you can prove to the copyright owners you indeed have one and then there would be no problem. It would be very stupid to press legal charges since they gave you a license.
