Feelin A Bit Stuck...Mind A Review?

Hey all, we're one of the bazillions of new gaming channels out there. And we're feeling a bit stuck.

WHAT WE KNOW
We know that we're insanely late to the party. We also know that we're insanely new to the party as well. Hardly over a month. This isn't a WHY AREN'T WE HUGE YET GAAAW!! We're proud of our work, and are fully aware that what's funny/interesting/informative/popular is different from person to person. We know that not all our videos are equal (damn!). We know that Lets Plays are some ridiculously dead things, but we like the games we've chosen, and we've made sure to emphasize that our channel is not and will not be dominated by full game let's plays. We know we need the "gateway" so to speak. And we know that this is a long, long road. We've seen some way better growth than we have had though, so we feel that some fresh eyeballs will go a long way.

WHAT WE THINK WE KNOW BUT AREN'T SURE
While we're proud of what we're doing, we also know that most likely, people aren't going to crazy and flock over because of a video for Harvest Moon or a 25 minute babblefest for a game from an obscure movie. We've got some newer games as well uploaded, but our size and channel youth hurt our rankings. We don't play call of duty or minecraft which dominates so much of what's out there (for better and worse). We feel that some of what we've done is simply just not searched for as much. Which makes sense. Again, we need that gateway. In addition, we have no external social networking as of this post. Due to previous endeavors, our own personal facebook pages and the like are not a place that would bring any views/fans/excitement. We plan on utilizing a new twitter page, but are unsure of how to proceed from scratch in the youtube gaming world of it.

WHAT WE DON'T KNOW
What the missing piece is.

So if you've made it this far, and you still want to take a peek and offer a pointer or two...we would be very grateful. Thank you!

This sounds like me written all over it, but I will try to give you (and I guess myself) some advice. As you said we were both extremely late to the party and Youtube is over saturated with oh so many gaming channels. I respect that you didn't fall into playing the "next big game" in order to get views because that seems to be where a lot of things get stale. Keep the variety up, keep doing what you're doing, but just do it better than everyone else. There are few revolutionary gaming channels but the ones who do go the top promote aggressively and just have quality stuff.

In terms of content don't be afraid to cut out some of the slow stuff and back tracking. I love your intro, it's rather clever, but perhaps focus on improving your branding such as your thumbnails and avatar just to be a bit more eye catching. Also, maybe fixing some of your audio in post with things like noise removal and normalization could make a huge difference.

Good luck man!

Hey thanks a lot! Much much appreciated! We were split up in diff parts of the country and haven't been able to reply until now. But we wanted to say thank you! We haven't had any uploads lately due to massive editing for our subscribe trailer, but after that it should be business as usual.

Thanks again, really means quite a bit to us!

I would say that small, new channels with not that mainstream kind of videos do really improve their performance with collaborations and cross promotion. I see a lot of featured channels, but, have you ever collaborated with them? If not, why are them there?
I agree with you that this is a long, long road. We all start at the same point, but the real key is to stay unique, and constant. Don't mind if your videos do not have a big audience, because maybe 5 of your subscribers are more valuable than 5 subscibers of a big channel, since they are there only for a reason: they like your content and don't look to the subscribers count.
As Woven Waifu said, you could improve your branding, with photos maybe better in the avatar and a simple, catchy banner. I see a good channel structure, but you should put a trailer rather than a regular featured video.
As you said, create a twitter and promote you there. Social activity is very important to announce your releases. Most people are much more time in social networks than in youtube, and only come there to watch the videos of their fav youtubers. Guess what, they announce them in twitter, facebook, etc.
What I can say is keep up with the good work, collaborate with other channels and stay active at Twitter/FB. Improve branding and produce unique content with your own style! Good luck!

Thank you very much! We appreciate all feedback and criticism! We FINALLY have our Subscribe Trailer out there and featured on the channel.

We also have a brand spankin' new banner which we love!! We've changed our avatar as well, it almost looks like a flag based off of our intro sequence. We feel good about it all. Our short, short time on twitter has also gone well.

If you happen to take a gander at any of these wonderful new things we've got going on, we would be love it. Also, Hero and Woven if you want us to take a peek at anything you got going on we'd be more than happy to.
