Faster Upload Speed?

Creating the video, creating the thumbnail, etc. I love doing and I can keep up with. But my uploading speed is truly wearing me down, forcing me to post only once every few days. I'd love to upload everyday, or every other day, but my 2 mb/s uploading speed is killing me.

Upgrading isn't an option for me at the moment. Living at my parents house (16 years old), it's their internet and they don't want to pay more to get faster speeds.

These 10+ Gigabyte videos are truly a pain to upload - I usually let videos upload overnight but I do like getting on the internet in the morning to do daily activities.

Is there any way I can get videos up faster without suffering from quality loss?

I had a similar problem when I started making videos and the only slight fix I managed to get was when I started using Compressor to compress my videos instead of doing it straight from FCPX. It helped a little but I still had to plan all of my videos a few days ahead of schedule and then upload over night. If you use windows to edit, I don't really have a suggestion but I'm sure there's a program or something that will compress video while keeping quality.

What file are you saving your videos at? If you only capture in 30fps then save as an MP4. But, if you capture at 60fps save as a h.264 these are smaller files as a MP4 video that is 15-20mins long should only be 1gb and a 15-20min H.264 video should only be 2.0-2.5gbs! Hope this helped!

My files are .mov's currently - the final products are in 30 FPS.

A video I just finished up is 15:20, and the file size is 8.53 gigabytes (720p). Would you suggest changing the file from a .mov to a .mp4?

My video upload speed is so bad It isn't measurable. But I think its like 0.2-5 mbps. I recommend using an application called Handbrake. It is free and compresses files without losing quality. Look at the image I attached and these are the difference in video size! 520mb to 250mb!

Yeah, your best option is probably to compress your videos, especially since YouTube compresses it on their end anyways. Still, I doubt it's solely your uploading speed keeping you from uploading once every few days.

What are your export settings that you're getting 8-10 GB on a video less than 10min? Exporting at max quality does you no good as YouTube degrades it no matter what. For me exporting in H.264 with a bitrate of 20 Mbps tends to get me the best results. A recent 3:50 min video in 1080p was 555MB.
