Fan names

Mostly we use the word "viewers", I'm not always comfortable with the word "fans". When I'm referring to the whole group sticking up for us, sometimes we say "Babyteeth4 Nation", which we stole from "Steeler Nation" or any other number of "nations".
 
I think fans does sound awkward. I guess that's what they would be but it's strange to me. I think a lot of people are focused on names for their viewers/supporters but it's better if a name happens organically. It doesn't really have to happen at all.
 
I just call them my viewers. I don't really use the word fans because I don't feel like it fits because I'm still able to have interactions with my viewers. I feel like the word "fan" implies a separation between creator and subcriber so people like Zoella have fans but I don't. That's just how I see it :)

I have given this a little thought and i really enjoyed reading the different thoughs around this. I got like 170 subs and i think it would be pretty awkward to give them a name, like they were a group of screeming fans hungry for every second of video im uploading. But i like the idea of the word "supporter", cause thats how i think of them, cause what they do is being supportive by watching my videos and commenting them in a serious and cool way that shows that they have paid atention to the content of the video.
 
Fans seems like such a dirty word in a lot of ways. But I understand why people say "fans" instead of subscribers. For me I call them my subs, my bandmates, my backup members, and even some of them I've become friends with and speak to on a regular basis. But yeah, my little nickname for them is my bandmates, though I've never said it on camera. Feels too cheesy for me honestly, but I like it.
 
WATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE MARKAMANIACS AND MARKAMANIA RUN WILD ON YOU????!!! Naw, I don't really have a name for the fanbase. I'm lucky I even have a fanbase as it is.
