Fair Use?

Hello there, I'm new to this forum. My question is: if I translate excerpts from a TV news show and post them on Youtube with subtitles in a different language - does this qualify as fair use? I am not doing it for profit, but in order to get the message across to a wider audience. And if it does, how should I deal with a copyright strike - by submitting a counter-notification claim? Thanks for your help.

I doubt this will be regarded as fair use as the visual content is copyrighted by a company. Stay away from big media stuff.

^ i agree, sounds like a slippery slope man. I'd recommend reiterating what was said in the news cast and have a link to where you could watch it. But actually showing it might get your account in trouble.

I want to add up to this,

If you really really really want to do this for non-profit stuff and I don't recommend this. Open up another channel on an other e-mail and post the videos on that channel to 'secure' your main channel, but again I don't recommend it.

"Non-profit" or "profit" is totally irrelevant to copyright. "Educational use" is also irrelevant.

You might not be directly making a profit using someone's content, but 1) it is perhaps driving traffic to your channel and therefore to other monetized videos on your channel and 2)it is taking away potential profit from the organisation who does own the copyright to it.
