Facecam on gaming channel yes or no

DonHazeon

I've Got It
just thinking about adding a facecam to my gaming channel.

Is it a must? And is it more appealing to have one? Or should I just keep it at regular gameplay with commentary.

I don't mind having my face out there :p but I would like to hear other youtuber their thoughts about this!

I'd totally love to know the answer to this myself. I've actually considered asking this question but you totally beat me to it dude. :). More recently I've thought about getting a webcam to show my skull to the viewers who watch my live streams. Like you I just do commentary at the moment during gameplay.

Also, like you, I totally wouldn't mind showing my face either because I'm already doing a VLOG series on my channel where I walk around filming myself and my friends, so it's not like I would be revealing anything that isn't already out there.

Anyway, I think this is a great question that I just don't have the answer for, but I hope some cool gamer dude or dudette will come here and answer this so that we both know.

Take care my friend. :).

As a non-gamer and non-gaming channel creator, I personally like the face cam on gaming channels. I know its generic and "with the crowd" but I genuinely enjoyed pewdiepie's playthroughs of Amnesia, and the whole thing worked because of him and his reactions. If you have the personality, a face cam is a must, and if its horror, then yes as well!

Youtube is really about seeing the snapshot of someone's life and their thoughts. I even had a face cam for one of my dive videos, kind of like a virtual tour explaining different things that were happening during the dive! It was definitely gaming inspired

Ocean Chan, based on what your saying it sounds like we should get good face cams then.

I definitely play some horror games. I'm playing through Until Dawn at the moment, and will likely have another live stream this weekend. If dudes love watching reactions from gamers with face cams then their totally gonna love watching me scream and fall out of my freakin' chair during jump scares. Lol. :).

"Mr. Brisket? You still alive man? Come back. Get back in your chair. You gotta finish the game dude!"

Lol! :).

You could mix it up? Like leave your face out of the picture and only show it if you say something / or pull a face or somthing funny?

That is actually an awesome idea thanks ![DOUBLEPOST=1505485540,1505485456][/DOUBLEPOST]

I believe it matters a lot on how you behave with the facecam on. If entertaining comes naturally then I'd say go for it. Me being a beginner, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable just yet. I'm only just slowly starting to get the hang of doing half decent commentary.

I've watched some gaming channels that use a facecam and it doesn't bring any value if the person is hardly expressing themselve.
