External microphone for smartphone?

Hi is there anyway that I can insert an external microphone to my android phone (Lenovo A536). I heard that one can insert an external mic to Iphone. So please help me out! It will be of great help because I understand that audio quality is extremely important in a vlog. Thanks in anticipation

I dont know if it will work with that model but I have the Rode SmartLav, its not perfect but it works well enough to get the job done if the on camera audio is terrible. This one works with the iPhone.
